Limited Capacity filling up

Equipped with the right tools, students facing barriers to reading printed text, such as dyslexia and visual impairments, can easily consume materials in the same ways as their peers without disabilities and become successful readers and learners. Come and hear how students who formerly struggled to read are becoming avid readers. Learn about resources such as Bookshare, a FREE ebook library for people who read differently. Bookshare members access 750,000 titles and read in ways that work for them, in audio, with or without accompanying highlighted text, or in braille or large font; on computers, Chromebooks, smartphones, tablets, and other devices. See demonstrations of several reading tools that are compatible with Bookshare books, and try out some of these tools on your own device. Bookshare is an initiative of Benetech, a nonprofit that empowers communities with software for social good

Participants will be able to: describe how to access and use a variety of assistive reading technologies for people who read differently; explain the unique characteristics of these technologies and the types of learners who will benefit from each one; and explain the benefits of Bookshare, a key source of accessible ebooks for people who experience reading barriers
